Boeing 757-200
Making Tough Approaches Since 1983
When discussing small international airports or difficult approaches, a common phrase can be heard over and over: "The biggest airplanes that make the approach are 757's." This aircraft was designed by Boeing to replace the legendary 727, and has since gone above and beyond the call of duty. It has the potential to match the 767 in range, but has a reduced number of seats in a narrow-body design. This enables airlines to open flight lines to distant areas that do not usually have as many travellers as would fit on a 767. Unfortunately, as a result of dwindling sales and the events of September 11, production has ceased on this wonderful airplane. It is still widely used by many American carriers, with Delta and American Airlines being the top two users.
American Flight Airways Virtual Airlines utilizes Boeing 757 on all category 3 routes. It is ideal for landing at smaller airports which are quite a distance away from the departure hub, such as areas in Latin America.
