Beechcraft 1900D
Backbone of Regional Airlines
The Beechcraft 1900D was developed directly from the successful King Air series of twin turboprops. The resulting airliner is a fast, efficient, and powerful airplane which has become a workhorse of regional and major airlines alike. Not only is the 1900 much more efficient than any regional jet, it is also certified to land on grass, allowing airlines to have flights to rural areas that are inaccessable to any other aircraft. Further adding to its versatility is the fact that only one crew member is required to fly the 1900. The FAA requires a minimum of two crew to transport passengers, but several cargo-based airlines use one pilot per airplane.
American Flight Airways utilizes the 1900D on all Category 1 routes.
