Welcome to the Dallas Hub at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport! DFW Airport serves as the southwestern hub of American Flight Airways operations. Flights to destinations in the US, Latin America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia originate from the DFW Hub. AFA flights originate out of terminal B at DFW. DFW Airport is the second largest in the United States and third largest in the world. The airport has 3 control towers (east, west, and center) which provide coverage for the airport's 5 north-south parallel runways and 2 diagonal runways. Dallas was AFA's 3rd largest superhub beginning operations in 1998 and continues to be a productive hub for American Flight Airways southwestern operations.

January 2010 Activity Report
FLIGHT ACTIVITY
January was an outstanding month for total flights flown. However we only had a slight increase in total hours. Vatsim participation is still improving as well. We had 257 total flights, an increase of 43% over December. Flight hours were 514.57 for a 0.6% increase. And VATSIM hours were 175.26 for a 9.4% increase. Great job Dallas!!! Keep up the good work.
CHARTERS
Charters are going very well. We would like to thank everyone who has participated in the Haiti Relief flights. There are still some open and aid is still needed so feel free to reserve one of these charters and fly it. We also have some route retiming charters available for those that prefer shorter flights. More charters will be added in the coming month so keep checking the Charter Center. Also if you have a particular flight in mind email the hub staff and we will post it.
FORUMS
Please check out the forums at www.forums.flyafa.com for airline news, online events, technical help, fleet help, and individual hub news. Also note that forum usage is not required but highly encouraged as it is a great way to connect with your fellow APG pilots.
VATSIM
We have several pilots flying online via the VATSIM network. Check it out at www.vatsim.net They have many resources to help you get started. Help is also available in the APG forums mentioned above. Once you fly online with ATC you will not want to use “built in” ATC ever again. So give it a try.
ROSTER
As of this writing Dallas has ZERO inactive pilots and only four LOA. This is an outstanding achievement for the Dallas Hub. Keep up the good work.
FROM THE DESK OF THE CHIEF PILOT
Great job in January, Dallas! It looks like we maintained our positive momentum across the board … flights, total hours, VATSIM hours, 100% pilot activity! ... We continue to improve month-to-month and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the year takes us. Joe mentioned that we will be posting more charters and we continue to look for your input. Remember, this is your opportunity to fly to a destination that is not on our flight table. Beyond charters, let us know if there is anything else we can do to improve your “Lone Star” hub.
Awesome job Geri and Gentlemen!!

New AFA Dallas Hub Charter Flights

AFA Dallas pilots are encouraged to visit the Charter Flight Center to view an important new set of Category 2 timing charters. These charters have been introduced to verify the current \"Time Enroute\" reflected in our flight table. These Cat 2 flights range from one to two hours in duration.
While flying on-line VATSIM is always encouraged, pilots should consider departure and arrival ATC delays that would affect the duration of a normal flight and log the flight accordingly.
Dallas Hub management is currently focused on our current Category 2 offering and its accuracy. Pilots are encouraged to suggest other routes of similar-duration for inclusion in our flight table offering. Please contact Hub Director, Joe Pieper (AFA3724) or Chief Pilot, Craig Goodspeed (AFA3875) with your suggestions.
